Bed Head Ticket Survey |
|
Project ID: SV-005 |
Status: Completed |
Inpatient turnover in Sri Lankan government hospitals has traditionally been reported in terms of numbers of admissions by disease. However, the routine statistics do not allow analysis of inpatient activity according to the demographic characteristics of the patient, length of stay or other characteristics. To fill this gap, IHP was funded by WHO to work with MOH to collect a representative data set of patient admissions to support more detailed profiling of patient admissions in 2005, including coding to ICD-10. Data were extracted from more than 10,000 inpatient bed head tickets during 2006, and from hospitals in seven districts. A report to MOH and a public use data file was produced at the end of the study. The results provide a new perspective on the profile of government inpatients, including new estimates of average length of stay by major diagnostic groups. |
