The Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance (APLMA) was initiated by the Joint Chairs, the Prime Minister of Australia and the Prime Minister of Viet Nam, at the 8th East Asia Summit in Brunei on 10 October 2013. The APLMA builds on the commitment by leaders made at the 7th East Asia Summit in Phnom Penh through the Declaration on Regional Responses to Malaria Control and Addressing Resistance to Antimalarial Medicines and the outcome statement of the meeting Malaria 2012 hosted by the Government of Australia in Sydney, Australia in November 2012. Dr Rannan-Eliya is serving as a high-level expert on the Regional Malaria Financing Task Force convened to support the APLMAs work.
