Study visit to examine Sri Lanka's maternal health services |
|
Project ID: ST-001 |
Status: Completed |
Sri Lanka is well known as a leader amongst developing countries in efforts to reduce maternal mortality and improve maternal health. As a regional resource centre with good links to Sri Lankas health ministry, IHP is well positioned to make this experience accessible to policy-makers in other regional countries. As its first international training project, IHP organised this study visit by a senior Nepal MOH official, Mr Gnawali, to see at first-hand how Sri Lankan government maternal health care delivery is organised. Led by Dr. Reggie Perera, former Secretary of Health, Mr. Gnawali was given a comprehensive guided tour of the maternal health care services in Sri Lanka. Insights and experiences gained from this visit were taken back to Nepal to assist development of policies to expand access to maternal care. |
