Non-Communicable Disease Trends |
|
Project ID: NC-001 |
Status: Completed |
For several decades, Sri Lanka has been experiencing a shift in its disease burden away from communicable diseases to non-communicable diseases, such as ischaemic heart disease, diabetes and hypertension. Currently, the best available data to assess these trends consists of the information collected in the death certificates issued when Sri Lankans die. In this project, IHP researchers analyzed the trends in NCD mortality using the most recent death registration data for the country. A particular focus was the trend in age-specific rates for key diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, etc. |
