    Project ID: EV-001 Status: Completed

This country workshop was organised by IHP in collaboration with ILOs Colombo office to present the findings of the ILO Social Security Inquiry Sri Lanka Pilot Project, and discuss the main findings and implications with national policy-makers and agencies involved in social security provision. IHP staff presented on the main findings of the pilot project, and contributed to the plenary discussions, which were attended by senior government officials and technical experts from ILOs Geneva Headquarters. The main discussions focused on strengthening national reporting of social security statistics, and identifying which agencies should take responsibility. The Hon. Athadua Seneviratne, Minister for Labour Relations and Foreign Employment, gave the keynote address to launch the seminar, which was also attended by Ms. Tine Staermorse, Acting Director of the ILO Office in Sri Lanka, and Mr John Woodall of the Social Security Department of ILO.
