Health systems financing determinants of catastrophic costs in Asia-Pacific countries, with focus on MNCH |
|
Project ID: EQ-006 |
Status: Completed |
In the inaugural 2007 round of AusAID's Australian Development Research Award competition, IHP was successful in winning this grant award for work on inequities in health systems and MNCH delivery in Asia and Pacific countries. The Australian $ 750,000 grant to IHP and its collaborators was the largest of 29 grants awarded in the 2007 round to Australian and other international researchers.
IHP will be using this funding during 2007-2010 to extend the coverage of the Equitap network to new countries in the Mekong and South Pacific regions, sharpening the focus of Equitap to look at MNCH inequities, and supporting work to improve the quality of regional health accounts data collections. The grant is a much appreciated boost to sustaining the work of the Equitap network for another five years, after its initial funding from the European Commission. Some of the work funded under this project is also coordinated with the Apnhan network, in particular an investment in improving out-of-pocket estimation methods in the region's health accounts.
The first inaugural meeting of this grant project was held in Seoul in July 2007 with colleagues from partner institutions. New countries that have joined Equitap as a result of this grant include Viet Nam, Cambodia and Solomon Islands as of mid-2008. |
