    Project ID: AG-006 Status: Completed

Sri Lanka is an ageing economy and is likely to face increased expenditures on pensions and old-age income security as well as expenditures for elderly care (both health care and long-term care) which will add to fiscal pressures. Ageing also poses challenges for growth potential. This study is examining the demographic and economic challenges of an ageing population. The study will cover key issues on demographic trends using latest available population projections for Sri Lanka and other relevant demographic data with a focus on ageing. The work will also look at the impact of ageing on labor market in Sri Lanka, growth prospects, and macroeconomic effects, providing a concrete set of policy recommendations based on the analysis and findings of the report.
