Abstract:The tsunami affected two thirds of the coast line of Sri Lanka, across 13 of the 25 districts in the country. This document review exercise examines, with available data, the pre and post tsunami situation of the directly, indirectly and not affected areas. The report aims to provide a comprehensive document review of demographic and developmental indicators in the tsunami affected provinces of Sri Lanka in the pre and post tsunami periods. The review, as far as possible, attempts to capture the directly, indirectly and not affected areas of the provinces, with focus on women and children. Information is provided on demographic, economic, housing, maternal and child health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, adolescent development and protection with key measurable indicators with a view to assess the evaluability of the UNICEF tsunami programme in Sri Lanka.
