    Supoort for MOH Global Fund HSS Proposal 2019
    IHP is supporting the Ministry of Health draft and submit a proposal to Global Fund for Euros 20 million in funding to support health systems strengthening. MOH.gif

    The proposal targets Euros 20 million in rebt repayments that Sri Lanka is to make to a German funder, which Germany has offered to contribute in a debt swap facility to fund further health systems strengthening through the Global Fund.

    Senior Fellow Awarded Knight of Grace
    Dr. Sarath M. Samarage, a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Health Policy, Sri Lanka has been Awarded the Knighthood of the Order of St. John by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of Britain In recognition of his devotion and enormous contributions to humanity through the St. John Ambulance Sri Lanka. The triennial Investiture Ceremony was held on Thursday 19th September 2019 in London, Presided by the Grand Prior, His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester. SAMAward.jpg

    L4UHC Asia Program Support
    IHP is partnering and supporting GIZ to deliver the 2019/20 L4UHC Asia program which is training participants from Pakistan, Myanmar and Viet Nam in leadership skills for UHC. L4UHCP4H.jpg

    IHP activities include providing technical support and advice on program delivery and development of program materials.

    L4UHC Sri Lanka Program 2019
    IHP hosted L4UHC participants from Pakistan, Myanmar and Viet Nam for the first part of their 2019/20 UHC leadership training program. L4UHCGroup.jpg

    IHP organized and hosted the first event of the Leadership for UHC (L4UHC) Asia program 2019/20 at the Jetwing Blue hotel in Negombo, Sri Lanka, 18-21 March 2019, working with and supporting colleagues from World Bank, WHO, GIZ and P4H. As part of the week's training, IHP organized sensing journey visits for participants to experience at first hand some key elements of SRi Lanka's UHC experience. This included visits to the PGIM training program for medical administrators, a private clinic, a private hospital and a leading quality expert, a government hospital and the GMOA doctors union. Participants were uniformly surprised and impressed by what they saw, much of which was new to them.

    Dr. Abeykoon awarded the Gold Medal
    Dr.A.T.P.L. Abeykoon, Senior Fellow was awarded the Gold Medal for his outstanding scholarly contribution to the field of Demography and Population Studies by the Population Association of Sri Lanka at a ceremony held recently at the University of Colombo. ATPLAward.jpg

    Dr Reggie Perera, Director and Senior Fellow, IHP, delivered the Keynote Speech at the Incident Reporting Symposium 2019 organised by the Lanka Hospitals Quality Assurance Team. It was held on 06th March at the Prathap C Reddy Auditorium, Lanka Hospital. His presentation was titled "A fairy tale, the National Quality Assurance and Patient Safety Programme" The participants were representatives of all private hospitals, Ministry of Health Officials including Directors of Teaching Hospitals. chsmc.jpg

    Dr. Abeykoon contributes to the NSF�s signature publication
    As part of its 50th�Anniversary celebrations, the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka recently launched its signature publication "Natural Resources of Sri Lanka: Conditions, Trends and Prospects".
