    Jayalal Chandrasiri

    Research Associate

    Jayalal holds a BSc Degree from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and MSc in Mathematical Statistics from Virginia State University, United States of America. He also holds professional training certificates on Project Management, Project monitoring and evaluation, health economics, Geographic Information System (GIS), Statistics for Research and Development projects and many more. Jayalal worked for Ministry of Agriculture Food and Nutrition, Rural Economy, Samurdhi and Poverty Alleviation and Export Development Board (EDB) of Sri Lanka. Has also worked for ASEAN foundation and Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand as a consultant and worked in National Department of Census and Statistics in Thailand, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Singapore and Brunei for many years. He also worked in The Netherlands and Andra Pradesh, India.

    Jayalal is a Research Statistician, Data scientist and a project Management specialist with about 30 years experience in both Local and foreign organizations. He is a specialist in experimental and survey data analysis, spatial regression modeling, poverty mapping, community development and project management using modern software - both open source and commercial. He was a visiting faculty for Time Series, Nonparametric data analysis, Exploratory and Robust data analysis, Research methodology and Project cycle management for Post Graduate Institute of agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He has worked in development projects funded by World Bank, EU, GTZ, ADB, IFAD, USAID and ADB.

    His current research interests are; Validity of Universal application of WHO Child growth standards for assessing child growth performance, Catastrophic and impoverishment effects of out of pocket Health expenditure, Aging and non communicable diseases, social security and pension modeling and forecasting.
